It seems like many celebrities are coming out with their own fashion lines. Do you have any favorites. I just saw the Lauren Conrad collection and it is nice, but very expensive.

Lauren Conrad!!! Okay, so I went to school and have a degree in Apparel Design and Technology, then all these celebrities come out with fashion labels; what gives them credentials to have a fashion label? I'll have to check out Lauren Conrad's, I'm not gonna lie, she dresses pretty cute. She had a line of bags with Linea Pelle. Everyone has a fashion line, J-Lo, Mary Kate & Ashley, Beyonce, Kate Moss. I need a line . . . maybe I have to become famous first. It's not WHAT you know but WHO you know!!

re: jenndouglass
Her stuff is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overpriced. I mean c'mon...jersey knit is not expensive! The bags she had were cute, but I've never seen them in person...only on TV.
I have yet overly impressed with celeb fashion lines

re: stef42678
these lines arent supposed to sell based on design or quality, its all about association- its like buying a LC dress will buy you LC's life and lifestyle. ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, i'd rather be my own person & keep my money, thanks.

re: stef42678
Boring and way over-priced. I'm not impressed with many celeb attempts to become fashion "designers". Very few I like and many are way out of my league. I can't afford decent health insurance let alone a pair of Jimmy Choo's. One can dream though.

re: stef42678
It's like that old saying "the rich just get richer". It seems that once you are a star (of ANY kind), you can have a clothing line , perfume line, books(for adults OR children).etc...and they are always successful....that is b-----t....jenndouglass can do it better, because that is where her education and knowledge are, BUT as she says...unfortunately it's not WHAT you know, but WHO you know or ARE....isn't that a crime? It isn't EVEN that they even need the money!! What can we do to change this serious dilema?

re: stellamae
Amen to that sister...I guess the only thing we can do is not feed into it...boycott celeb designer shopping!!! Haha

re: stef42678
I totally agree with you girls on celeb designers being expensive. Does anyone have any favorites or are they all just great because of who their designer is?

re: stef42678
Sarah Jessica Parker has her Bitten line with Steve & Barrys'. Everything is under $20 and the clothes look really nice. Nothing high fashion but they're still a good deal.

re: MrsRpd
i haven't really tried out the bitten line too much, i picked up a few of the graphic tees, but some of my girlfriends who i went shopping with had their hearts set on picking up particular pieces, jeans, blazers, shorts, etc. and the fit totally didn't work for them- but i agree the price is great- especially when they have their $8.98 sale!

re: dazzlin
I love the price of the Bitten line, so I'll have to try and see how they fit. Thanks for the tip girls.

re: devotdsatellite
devot, steve and barry's recovered and the line isn't going anywhere, a lot of companies file for chapter 11 bankruptcy often, but it doesnt always mean the end of them

We were supposed to get a S&B's here in my city and they never opened. I'm so sad. :(

re: dazzlin
ah see, i only read about the 100 some store closing. if filing for chapt 11, i thought you had to liquidate all assets to pay debtors.....but business law is certainly not my area of expertise.

re: devotdsatellite
Sounds like even celebrities are struggling in the fashion industry and economy. Has anyone checked out the DASH store by the Kardashians?

re: stef42678
ick, i can believe i'm sharing my law school education on a fashion forum, but here i go: a chapter 11 just means that you file for insolvency, which means you can't afford to pay off all your debts. you go the court, tell them you're broke, and the court declares to the people who owe money that they're out of luck. sometimes it means you disappear off the face of the planet, sometimes it means you get bought out by another company (a la lehman bros) and sometimes it means you keep on going, but may cut back: close stores, fire people (doing the same thing, but starting fresh at the same time). steve and barrys was almost bought by sears, but they just persevered and aren't going anywhere. too bad for their debtors, since they filed chapt 11, their debtors cannot get any $ from them even if they start doing well again and have the funds to pay debts off

re: dazzlin
I appreciate your expertise Dazzlin'! There's nothing wrong with getting a little education while we talk fashion!
Thanks!

re: dazzlin
once you file, the court watches you while you reorganize: it may force you to pay certain debts & approves a lot of your business decisions (since you obviously did a bad job on your own)- that may be why scheduled stores arent opening or stores are closing, the court just plain said don't

re: stef42678
Kimora Lee Simmons has KLS and Baby Phat. Love it. Jennifer Lopez also has a great line that is affordable. Some celebrities have no business designing what I wear though :(

re: brittylew
I'm not really into the Baby Phat stuff...not my style I guess, but there are people who can pull it off well.

re: stef42678
I only wear what I design. It's the best way to advertise : )

re: stef42678
I know this comment is a day late and a dollar short...but I haven't been on the forums pages in forever!
"YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR"
Celeb designers are awful in my opinion...if you are an actor, act. if you are a singer, sing. Leave fashion to fashion people...I mean let other people make money too! Some ugly, ugly designer items sell just b/c of the name on the label...it's horrible. (and you know what i am talking about!)
I also feel that labels shouldn't define you...but in the same breath, I fell less is more. I'd rather have one or two nice coats than, 4 or 5 trendy, here today gone tomorrow simple coats. I also hate dressing head to toe in items from chain stores...you just look like everyone else. be yourself! I also think people forget about finding new designers whose prices aren't way out of control (yet) and aren't mass-produced. And sites like ideeli and other clearance stores are great, but if you can buy directly from the designer, it's better...that is if you care and want them to stay in business and keep making things you love...
OK off my soap box now...my friend is an emerging designer and I feel her pain sometimes...
