Does anyone have one of these near them? My friend just told me about it...it's a Goodwill type store that takes only "gently used" clothes from name brands, geared to teens and twenty-smothings. It's really well organized(size AND color) and super cheap. The jeans are $12 at the most. I've seen LV bags(yes, the real thing) for $30. They also will buy stuff from you, on the spot, if it's in good condition, of course.

re: alyabonfiglio
We have a Plato's Closet here in Colorado. I went in one in Ohio and it was fabulous. A large selection for, as alyabonfiglio put it, teens & twenty-somethings. Shoes, tops, pants, jeans, purses, accessories. The one here in Colorado doesn't have a very good selection for men but is ok for women. It's a hit or miss on accessories. I was able to find a LOT of great items for my kids. American Eagle, Aeropostale, Hollister, Aber.&Fitch, etc.-(things the kids are wearing) and the clothes were in excellent condition. I have even found a couple of tops for me for weekend wear. I enjoy just going and looking-you never know when you'll find a treasure :) You can pretty much count on paying b/t $8-$12 for tops depending on the brand. Jeans can be higher depending on the brand as well.

It sounds like a great store for bargains.

re: alyabonfiglio
It caters to a pretty young crowd clothing-wise. But of course there are jeans, scarves, shoes, and accesssories that someone a little older could pick up. If you're looking for a new belt or handbag or something small, it's a good stop.

re: alyabonfiglio
Ugh! I have had BAD experiences with them. I think the kids working there don't know too much about fashion outside of their local mall (A&F, A&E, etc). I tried on a few occasions to bring some stuff there that was is GREAT condition, but either didn't fit me anymore or I had just moved on from wearing. Anyways, on one occasion, I brought about 3 shopping bags FULL of great stuff (including Betsey Johnson, French Connection, free people, etc), and they took like maybe THREE things! I was in shock.
I have had MUCH better luck with a place in Minneapolis called Buffalo Exchange. I know that they have stores in other cities too. They took almost everything I had, and they price it right there while you wait. That way, you can get your $$ right away. You can either get a store credit for I believe 75% of what they priced your stuff, or 50% cash. I ended up taking the cash because I was only visiting for the weekend (I live in WI), but they had some really cute new and used clothes and accesories. A lot more designer stuff than I had expected. I walked out of the store with a check for $200!!
Here is there website if anyone wants to check it out:http://www.buffaloexchange.com/

re: Bimbi284
Yeah, I'd have to agree with their odd choices of selecting what I was offering. I mean, they took all the stuff I hadn't worn since highschool but the higher end stuff they said, "Cute, but it just won't sell here." I did get the money for what they did take right away, though. Never heard of this Buffalo Exchange...hmm...must check out...

re: alyabonfiglio
OK, I totally checked out the buffaloexchange website and was impressed with the story and background. Not to mention there is a location in Denver. This will be a wonderful field trip on my next day off work. Thanks for the info!!!

re: happygirl
I have been to Buffalo Exchange and always find great vintage outfits. The best part about that store besides the prices is you never know what you'll find. It is great.

re: alyabonfiglio
There is a Plato's Closet near me, in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. When it first opened, it was great. But now it's totally junkie. I never go in there. They did buy back a lot of my clothes in the beginning, but a lot of young teens work there. Not into it. I do attest to Buffalo Exchange also, as there is one on Melrose. Also on Melrose, Wasteland is AWESOME! Not only do they buy-back, but the set-up is huge. Totally vintage, the employees have fabulous style, and the brands and designers they carry are top of the line. However, beware that you may need to get their early or expect to wait in line. They are a hot spot!!!!

re: alyabonfiglio
have u read all these news article about how thrift/vintage shopping is booming due to the economic mess? there's more demand to sell used stuff, so these places are becoming more picky. and there's more demand to buy used stuff. its crazy!

re: alyabonfiglio
I totally believe that. I haven't read it yet, but happy that there are still vintage stores around? Maybe there will be a "vintage fashion revolution" or something! ;)

re: alyabonfiglio
Just had a Plato's Closet open in South Coast, Santa Ana and they are so awesome. Way bigger, cleaner nicer than all the other places I frequent. Staff is cool and they buy pretty much all my teen brand stuff. Downside that they don't have vintage stuff, just trendy styles for CHEAP!www.platosclosetsouthcoast.com They are better than the one that used to be in Rancho
