Soo I was kind of curious how this contest would work. I am seeing that most of the pics entered are from some of the Lucky Miss Sixty events...which had professional photographers, lighting, and lots of items to choose from. I guess I am wondering how Lucky would be comparing these to those, like myself, who uploaded my own pic using my own (crappy) webcam and my own Miss Sixty clothes and shoes. I'm not trying to hate on those of you who were lucky enough to go to that event and got some great pics out of it...I was just wondering how that was going to play out. I guess I just assumed that the contests had to do with our own style and clothes that we own.
Any thoughts?

re: Bimbi284
I was wondering why everyone had nice clothing and great shots. I wish I was able to go to one. Missed a couple of key weeks having not been on here much.
I think that even if you don't have the glam shot, you can still win if you know how to pull everything together. I think it's more about you being you and you don't need professional shots to show that.
Good Luck!

re: lilygaze
I was so fortunate to be able to attend the event in my town where they have a photographer to get your shots and the salespeople help you with your style. I would love to win.

re: Bimbi284
Oh, I didn't know that had other people do the styling too. I thought the people just got to pick out what they wanted to wear so it would reflect more of their own style. Interesting.

re: Bimbi284
A lot of people found their own style, but I needed help. I wanted to try a funkier hipper look, so I had some help picking out the perfect look. I still think the contest will be judged on the look and not how professional the photo is, so anyone can win. I wish I could win this one, but I got a lot of low ratings.

re: stef42678
Yeah, I hear ya. My rating went from a 5 to a 2 in a matter of minutes after I uploaded my look! LOL

re: Bimbi284
Unfortunately, This has been a part of whats been going on with the contests. Others people vote down to keep their scores up. Lucky does a great job of filtering "illegal" voting, but there is not much that can be done about people voting. I am very happy that the winners of the other contests are ones that I have given 5 stars (and I do give them alot) to. Don't worry that you photo is not professional, put together your hottest Miss Sixty look together and SMILE! You have some really great looks! Good Luck!

re: moonchylde
Yes, I have seen it a lot. Its almost laughable! I have successfully dropped down to 1.8 haha. Thanks for the boost Moonchylde! You always seem to be such a positive voice on this site! :)

re: Bimbi284
You and Moonchylde both have great style. I am just trying to remember that rating numbers don't mean much, but I take the comments to heart. I wish I could win one of these contests, I was super stoked about the Miss Sixty until I saw my ratings.

Thanks so much, I love the good ratings.

re: Bimbi284
I was also wondering why some of the pictures have such a professional setting. Makes me feel stupid about putting so much effort in trying to create my own picture with my own cloths at home..(the background is my bedroom and bed)
I don't even want the flight to NYC, I live there I would happily give the flight ticket to another Lucky Style spotter...is that the grand price? I thought people might be able to win MS. cloths or something?

re: Bimbi284
I have a MS skirt I was thinking of entering with but the voting/ratings are brutal and is discouraging me. And I'm not sure what to pair with it. I'm leery of mini skirts now since weight gain. Good-bye size 4!
And Emi, not to pick favorites but I thought your photo was so well done. I had to give you 5 because the jeans look so great on you.

I would love to see your Miss Sixty pic, I am sure it is a winner!

re: Bimbi284
I don't understand when I give a spot on and the rating comes out low?
Posted 09/24/2008 at 07:56 PM
re: Bimbi284
Lucky, why do you have people in the contest not in Miss Sixty?
Posted 09/24/2008 at 07:59 PM
re: Bimbi284
I also gave spot ons to Emi, Steph,Bimbi284,all for different reasons. All are based on you being yourself. I just don't get how they can pick just one winner with so many perfect looks?
MrsRpd you should enter! Remember devotdsatelite told us no feeding trolls so they should be gone by now!

re: JAYMAN
I balked at the last minute so I loaned my MS skirt to my friend Britt. Her photo is up and looks like she's doing well! Good luck to everyone! You're all winners in my book.
And that bothers me that I see photos that are not relevant to the contest. I asked about this in one photo but I think I came off as more rude than curious. I wasn't trying to be rude so now I feel like an ass. I see a lot of photos from blank accounts. As if people post a photo and spam their friends for votes. To me that doesn't sound fair but I'm not all too familiar with the rules.

re: MrsRpd
She does look cute in the skirt. I remember in the good old days when I was skinny enoughh to wear but to poor to own. Very kind of you to share.
I never heard of Miss Sixty till the contest but knew you needed to wear a piece of Miss Sixty to enter not look like the "60s! Some people don't read the rules, they just enter.

re: JAYMAN
I'm fortunate to have a very stylish sis in-law and she gave me the skirt. There is no way I could afford it. One of these days I will buy something ridiculously expensive but I'm such a tight wad unless it's something I "can't" live without.

re: Bimbi284
Hey now...I want credit where credit is due...'twas I who foretold not to feed the trolls...hahaha.

re: alyabonfiglio
I'm sorry, you were the one who told me not to feed trolls. Sorry I forgot. My excuse is relatives in town and I'm losing my mind! Actually I complained to my Mom so much about losing my marbles she sent me a bag!

re: JAYMAN
Yeah, I asked about a lot of looks that I was unsure were Miss Sixty, mostly because I think the contest should be fair, and if people are giving out good votes to looks that aren't relevant to the contest, I would assume it kind of messes up the ratings, no? I don't think anyone but one person actually replied to my inquiries about that though haha.

re: Bimbi284
My apologies, Bimbi. No, to respond to your original thought, this month's contest seems to me skewed in the favor of those who went to the Miss Sixty event. Since I'm pretty new to the site, the first contest I saw was Urban Elegance, which anyone could enter easily. This Miss Sixty contest seems like a lazy option: "Oh, hey, we just did a Miss Sixty event, make the contest about THAT."
Posted 09/26/2008 at 08:56 AM
re: alyabonfiglio
LOL alya, I agree with you on that. Its also really easy for the few people who went to the event to enter, regardless of if they really use the site or not. It just seems a bit "iffy" to me. From what I understand, the contests are supposed to be about us reflecting our OWN style, meaning clothes and stuff that we actually have, and have styled ourselves. I mean, I could go to some fabulous store, try on a fabulous outfit, and have a photographer take a picture of me in it...but that wouldn't seem right or fair of me...
Just an FYI: I am not against those of you that went to the event and entered the contest. I just think that perhaps the contest itself is a bit off.

re: Bimbi284
Bimbi I have to admit, as I looked through the Miss Sixty gallery of pics, I chuckled at every comment where you asked if the top was Miss Sixty, or if those were Miss Sixty jeans. It actually got me laughing at one point. I mean, if the contest is about Miss Sixty, isn't it obvious you should have on Miss Sixty clothes or item of clothing? Yet, there were pics with obviously nothing Miss Sixty about them. Thank you for the accountability! And the laugh :)

re: happygirl
Hehehe, no problem Happygirl! I thought it was funny too...yet rediculous that so many people either didn't read the description of the contest, or just didn't describe their outfit enough to tell us what they were wearing hahaha.

re: Bimbi284
When do we find out who won!? I'm dying to know if I even placed. It was such a fun event. BTW... the votes it appears only counted if you were logged in and voted for the pix under the CONTEST category. I had high votes on Head to Toe (i think that's where it was) but on Contest the voting was lower.
There were way too many photos in this contest of people who did not have on anything Miss Sixty... how did that get by?
