re: gina
Congrats to the ladies on their opportunity!
The only thing that gets me down about modeling, magazines, etc is the lack of women (and men) who are not as slim as most models. I'd love to see women who are size 14, or any size. I'm sure our readers will be elated to see gorgeous women of all sizes.

What an amazing opportunity. When I did the Miss Sixty contest shoot, it was fun feeling like a model.

Hey girls! I won the Bionic Woman contest sponsored by Smashbox and featured in the February 2009 Allure. They flew me out to the Smashbox Studios in LA for a photo shoot with a famous photographer, Steven Khan. I also had makeup done by Lori Taylor (from Smashbox) and hair done by Kenny. It was a fabulous experience. I was allowed to bring my mother and she had a blast. Here is the link to the website in case you are curious: http://www.allureaccess.com/0902/beauty4.cfm

re: gina
BTW, I am 45! So, it was nice to have this opportunity. It is great when magazines and the media show women that are not anorexic teens.

Congrats on your half-marathon! It is the perfect distance, in my opinion! I am going to slog through the Miami Marathon this Sunday. Happy 2009 everyone!

re: gina
Ok, all valid points, but remember some models are that size naturally. I am not very tall, 5'7", but I am fairly thin for my height. Why is it ok for people to tell me I'm "too skinny" or "Eat something!"?
I'm "real" too!

re: alyabonfiglio
I totally think all sizes should embrace their beauty. I worded it wrong, so sorry! I think all sizes should represented. :)
I think it's wrong for anyone to ridicule anyone in regards to their weight, height, age etc. Slender or not, it's all good! I thought about bringing this up in another topic instead of just hashing it out in a comment. My bad.

No problem, I wasn't offended just offering up that because I needed to get it off my chest. I completely agree you should learn to love what you've got.

re: gina
Yup.. I'm NEVER going to be model material, but I like knowing others are and that they are comfortable doing so. I look at the photos with a touch of envy, but never with any jealousy. I like who I am.
