I want to know who won that DSW contest ? Did they decide to scrap the whole contest because of that Dits controversy? lol

re: Aurora78
It seems that any time there is a high-retail prize, there is an individual who has hundreds of "friends" that conveniently sign up on the site simply to vote up this individual. And always..to be blunt..their outfits suck. (Not that I rule in the world of style) It may be "legal" by contest rules but it is highly unfair to the other participants of this site who actually participate in the community and put effort into their looks. Rather than slapping on a tube top or dress and be like, "Oh hey! This is my party look! Oh this is my preppy look!" ; how about putting some thought into it. I mean, hey, if you're going to win, may as well go out with a bang. And as long as they win, who cares what anyone else thinks? But whatever, that is me just being a smart ass.
I'm pretty sure they all come from the Online Sweepstakes site where they swap the favor of voting for one another to unfairly win contests like, oh..the Express contest.

re: Aurora78
I don't remember the Express contest. I actually found this site from an contest forum though called Slickdeals dot com . I think it was be among the first 10 to register to win something. I forget, but now I am an active member and I love this site, I can definitely say that I get a lot of good tips on how to match clothing items. I know Dits was cheating in a way, I would hate to see her win from bogus votes espcially without really trying. But I wonder who really did win ? Seems like theres not many people really trying these days and I only see maybe 4-5 people actually trying and most of them have already won prizes before...so how does that work if they win again? We need to get our friends to join and get more legitimate members to participate somehow

re: Aurora78
As far as I understand members vote on the entrants. Can't say there isn't anything wrong with getting friends to join the site and participate in contests too. Sometimes someone will come along it seems and hijack the contest by getting their friends or whoever to vote them up, and it's typically a lot of people. You can easily tell by the repetitive comments left by members with blank profiles. To me it's highly unfair. Everyone else gets a fair vote from other members who are active. It just burns me up. There was a similar situation with the Express contest in December (I think Dec and I'm sure it's happened before I came along). Chick won and had at least 30 different comments from new accounts. It was irritating considering there were obviously better outfits in this particular contest that were in tune with a "holiday party look". Can't say a tube top and jeans qualifies but that's just me. I just need to shush it. I get too easily riled up over the most trivial things. A style site is hardly worth crying about but I believe in winning fair and square.
Anyway I'm glad you joined. Some of your outfits were pretty inspiring to me. Loved your DSW look!

re: MrsRpd
I agree with you 100% MrsRpd! Look how long it took you and I to win a contest. And I think you were up here a little longer than I. I see so many great looks of women who have actually put an effort into their outfits. Yet someone will come long that seems like they did not put much thought into their outfits and actually win a prize!? Not to mention some of these contest have guidelines to follow yet some just seem to totally ignore them and happen to win anyway. Never understood that. Oh well. Luckystylespotter is still a great site. Good to see women up here who actually try to pull a great outfit together!
Both you and Aurora have awesome outfits and so do a lot of other Luckystylespotters! Keep up the great work ladies! :-)

re: StyleGal
Funny enough I didn't really try as in promote myself to win. And I honestly thought there were better looks than mine, not that I'm complaining. It's awesome but if I lost, so it be and those who did win, like you two I was pretty happy about. I thought you both looked great. I did have a lapse in judgment with the Foot Locker contest but I only submitted it for the fun of it. I mistook the theme for a Converse reference rather than a "stand out style" which I think was what it was about. My bad. It was 2AM and insomnia inhibits thinking.
I haven't been terribly active lately due to a lot going on personally. A few too many funerals and a job that makes me want to scream. I had no idea about the Sally Hansen promo going on but you all looked great!!! LSS is my escape from day to day stress. I love it here. :)

re: Aurora78
Aurora in certain contests once you win you have to wait 6 months before you can win another contest, if I'm not mistaken.

re: Aurora78
yeah I know exactly how you feel and thanks I like your outfits too, I get inspired by gothic/alternative styles - anything away from mainstream yet still looks cool

re: Aurora78
They posted the Sperry winner...it was HannahK, I believe...I guess you can look back in the "news" section if you haven't seen it already.I may be wrong. Obviously I am out of the loop with this "Dits" things. But because of what Mrs is saying up there: I second everything and it's made me basically stop paying the contests any mind.
But if I'm right and HannahK won, that's cool with me. I see her posting stuff and being pretty active so kudos to her.

re: Aurora78
haha yea I just noticed that new feature on the homepage, very cool. I am glad Hannah won too. Although, I personally thought Dits dress was preppy too, I didn't think she deserved to win especially since most of the votes were from new signup/ biased friends and not by objective members. WAY TO GO HANNAH!
