re: JAYMAN
As much as I love Chanel...its DEFINITELY one of those that I can only admire from afar. I mean, nearly $500 for a HAIR BOW?!?!?!?! (and that's at 20% off retail!) I can make that thing for under $10 if not less. There are far too many Chanel "looks for less" that I can purchase that there is no need for me to even try to justify buying any of the real thing. I mean, I get it, its Chanel...but c'mon.

re: JAYMAN
YES, I know expensive but those flowers, I got at $100 or less, years ago, so they do increase in value if you ever have to sell. Helping justify. I have 3 white and they are silk or linen and have never become yellow. Don't know if same quality.
I own a sequin headband you could also make that doesn't fit me or anyone I know, needs a skinny head. It has the little gold tone plaque that is what I paid for. Yes, it was dumb, but thought I'd wear or the daughter I never had.
I just got excited when I saw how much Chanel was there. I agree it is over priced but it does wear well very well and rare on sale.
I would never advocate with the economy the way it is to go into debt for. I just thought if someone lusted after it was a sale.
I know you are in school and have a wedding to plan for.

re: JAYMAN
LOL...thanks for understanding. I may have come off a bit harsh there. I do agree that the quality is pretty much incomparable and the pieces are all beatiful!
I have a small head, btw ;).

Is that a hint about the Chanel headband? I'm talking like a child's head?

These are great shoes and fashions, but really expensive. One day maybe...

re: JAYMAN
Yeah, waiting on tables doesn't pay for that kind of stuff. Hahaha. I'm not classy enough for Chanel anyway. Except to haggle with people on Canal Street for fakes.
It cracks me up; have any of you visisted NYC or a similar area known for getting the knock-offs on the street? You'll be standing there and some little old Asian woman walks up and whispers, "Gucci, Chanel, Prada? You want? Follow me." And then she proceeds to walk you ten blocks to a sweatshop, or van, and only two people at a time can go in...oh, goodness, it's so much fun to argue price with them.
"But it's a fake - I'll pay $40."
"Look real. $50."
"Ok, goodbye."
"$40, you pay now."

re: JAYMAN
jayman, those fabric flower brooches are making a seriously big come back! apparently there was a huge scandal with the j.crew holiday catalogue, which advertised a ton of pretty floral brooches (styled very prettily i might add), but they really only had a total of 6 for sale because of some fall out with the manufacturer--and they were JUST AS PRICEY AS THESE CHANELS! crazyness, it makes bluefly look like a steal :)

re: dazzlin
When I bought my Chanel flowers the most I spent was $110! I would never pay, what they charge now unless I had the matching suit to wear with it. I have 3 silk white ones and 2 of them miss the gold tone Chanel logo that no one sees so worth what ever the average silk pin goes for. Over 20 years old and kept in Chanel box and still white as new! I was crazy at that time not to invest in the costume jewels, big mistake. All I have is a triple strand pearl chocker that would fit a dogs neck, I was way to thin, and some CC Pins and a gray faux south sea island pearls. My sister has cc earrings, clips and matching cuff links in gold tone. This is all from the 70's and 80's long before the "real gems and watches came out.
Bluefly is a steal if you look at what the vintage stores are selling them for. I still like real gems and if the faux costs so much who can afford the real!

re: JAYMAN
Dazzlin: I think you told us something about the styling in the J CREW HOLIDAY CATALOG.
NOTHING WORSE FOR A BUYER WHEN AN AD RUNS AND IT IS A HIT AND THE GOODS DON'T COME IN,talk about ulcers! I couldn't handle that drama any more that is why I'm out of retail.

re: JAYMAN
TO ALL:
I hope you don't think I'm bragging, I'm trying to explain why some items are worth every penny even if the intial investment is high. I worked very hard to save up to buy the Chanel and at least I have something to show for it. If I knew that in the future the prices would go sky high I would have invested in Chanel handbags instead of stock! Should have bought "classics" and save to sell 20 years later! When Chanel changed the chain from gold tone to silver I stopped wearing untill they brought the gold back. For 2 years they didn't look like a great investment.
Just think in 20 years what CHANEL HANDBAGS will be???. See what you could do if you had a spare $3,000 laying around?

re: JAYMAN
you are not bragging, feel proud that you have taken such good care of your items, I wish I had done the same. That brooch that you have you can turn any outfit from boring to stunning. I have my eyes on a small blk Chanel bag and my justification to buy it is that I can pass it on to my daughter LOL!!!

re: mamacita
I am fine with that justification :)
