Did anyone catch the premiere of Stylista -- the new fashion "Reality TV" show where a bunch of guys and gals compete to win the change of becoming a junior fashion editor for Elle Magazine. I gotta hear some thoughts! The winner will work for Elle for a year, be put up in a NY pad for a year - paid for by Elle, and receive a year's worth of paid for H&M clothing. Seriously -- not too shabby. It comes on right after America's Next Top Model on Wednesday...

i caught it and don't really know what to think about it. all of the contestants were way too quirky for me, and way too melodramatic. anne slowey was hilarious though!

It is a bit much. Like the chick who likes to let it all hang out. I am not too clear why she is there. I would have loved to compete! Never heard about the show in the works. Did you?

re: GoodGirlGoneShopping
i actually did and totally considered filling out the application- it was out around march and you needed to be available for filming in april-- it just seemed too shady to me though. there were so many waivers about lack of privacy, having to live in a house with the others, it just seemed more like a real world kind of thing instead of a serious opportunity for people interested in the industry---i think that comes through in the first episode too because, seriously, i don't understand why any of them them are there!

I really like the premise of this show and it is a great prize. I liked the challenges, but there was way too much drama with the contestants and not enough styling and fashion. I like watching though and will tune in again.

I've seent the commercials and it looks like it would be fun to watch, but not exactly "serious" as dazzlin is saying. No one is really that much of a bitch, because no one is that amazing. And if they think they are and no one has informed them that they're NOT yet...well now I'm digressing.
Anyway, Elle magazine has some interesting stuff but it's inaccessable for the common folk. So how they expect a start up to compete in that environment...ehhh. Too catty, too staged for me.

re: GoodGirlGoneShopping
I completely agree with you Dazzlin, regarding the whole Real World idea. Me, being a loyal fan of the Real World, doesn't care for that of a show like this. Not everything has to be about living together. Wouldn't it have been more interesting if we followed each one in their day to day, and see how this person is saving up to take a flight or a cab just to compete? Like, I'd love to learn about the music they listen to, which probably inspires them, how their bedrooms or apartments look, etc. Alyabonfiglio -- you're funny. "No one is really that much of a bitch, because no one is that amazing." Love it. And those that ARE bitches are those who don't know it, because they are not concerned about what others think...
Stef, you're so right: way too much drama already. I guess Tyra will always be big on ratings, eh?

re: GoodGirlGoneShopping
She sure is. Sometimes its fabulous, other times it's too much that I have to turn. And as for her talk show, I just like to see what she's wearing, and then usually turn it off. I catch up with it on "The Soup" and enjoy how Joel talks about it! ;)

I love fashion and enjoy the show for the most part.
But looks like this type of job requires a lot of booty-kissing and too much pressure.
Reminds me of "The Devil Wears Prada."

re: GoodGirlGoneShopping
Yeah, that was part of it's description on its website. That it is akin to the Devil Wears Prada. I do believe DWP was made off of Anne S.
I tried watching Stylista online since I have no TV channels. But too slow of a connection for now. :-(
I really do like Tyra. Even though she likes drama, she seems very down-to-earth.

Tyra, if you can hear me -- please teach us of your fierceness. From your eyes to your wigs (yes, ladies, my hairdresser swears to me) and your Jay sidekicks to your daytime talk shows -- your place in the world of fashion is unmatched. And stylistas, don't kill me -- but I adore Janice Dickinson. She is so wrong that she is comletely right. Ever watch her modeling agency show?
